FC Porto has been honoured with a merit award at the Portugal Football Globes for winning their 31st national championship in the 2025/26 season. The ceremony took place at the Arena Portugal and celebrated the club's return to the summit of Portuguese football after a four-year title drought.

André Villas-Boas, the club's president, took to the stage to receive the award and addressed the title-winning squad. "With a lot of pain along the way, there was a great deal of individual and collective transcendence and a unique personal transformation from these players, who united around the FC Porto crest and its values," said Villas-Boas. The president also stressed the importance of the achievement, stating it was "very important to reverse the course of things and become National Champions again, a total merit of the working group."

Captain Diogo Costa was also invited onto the stage, symbolising the connection between the squad and the triumph. The tribute held special meaning following the losses of Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa in the 2024/25 season and Jorge Costa at the start of the title-winning campaign. Manager Francesco Farioli, who led the team to victory, was also praised during the event.

This recognition comes as FC Porto continues to lead the Primeira Liga, sitting in first place with 21 points from seven games. The team holds a five-point advantage over rivals Benfica and now prepares to visit 11th-placed Marítimo on October 10th.

The club's current form is strong, with four wins and just one defeat in their last five matches, a run that included a 3-1 victory over Benfica last weekend. Gabri Veiga, with four goals, is the team's top scorer in this early phase of the season. To follow the league standings, visit our standings page.
