Estoril's Record Against Porto
In 2023/24, Vasco Seabra led Estoril and staged one of the most curious chapters of the Portuguese season by winning three of four matches against FC Porto. The first game, in the first round of the league, ended in a 1-0 victory at Estádio do Dragão, surprising Sérgio Conceição’s blue and white side. Shortly thereafter, in the Taça da Liga, Estoril beat Porto 3-1 at Amoreira, removing the dragons from the competition and reinforcing the idea that Seabra had found a particular way to bother the portistas.
In the second round of the league, Estoril kept the streak, winning again over FC Porto 1-0, adding a third victory over the dragons that season. The only defeat came in the eighth‑finals of the Taça de Portugal, when FC Porto won 4-0. Still, the record stands: three wins in four games.
What to Expect from Arouca
With the season over, Seabra took over Arouca. This Sunday, at the Dragão, the coach will try to recover the formula that, two seasons ago, made Estoril one of the most troublesome opponents for FC Porto. While the focus is on Arouca, the 2023/24 story gives him a reference: the Estoril coach proved he can find the antidote for the dragons, and now he aims to replicate that success with his new team.
